The Jibba Jab:
Thrifty Posh. A place that will have you feeling hip, cool, and content without leaving a black hole in your wallet. The owners of the very renowned and lavish Nick and Sam’s, which is also one of my favorite steakhouses in DFW, were very smart to create a more casual spin off. The first time I got wind of this, which was over 2 years ago, I just had to find out if it could possibly stand up to its sire…...and it did! I’ve been back several times since, and sampled many of their dishes, so I’ve basically determined that you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

For starters, the mussels are fresh and swimming in a wonderful citrusy white wine broth, but the dish isn’t complete unless you dunk that crusty bread in it. Don’t be shy to order this as your entrĂ©e. The hummus and guacamole are both commendable dips, and on our most recent trip, we opted for the Tiger Shrimp Corn Dogs. The outer ring of cake was light and fluffy and the shrimp was surprisingly not over-cooked on the inside. Watch out Fletcher’s. The Texas State Fair might have a new contender for corn dogs!

The sides are all equally worthy of ordering, but my favorites are probably the California Spinach Salad with all of its bacon goodness, the Tomato Basil Soup, Macaroni and Cheese, and, needless to say, both the “Damn Good” Fries and Sweet Potato Fries, which are super crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside.

As for the entrees, I’ve been quite satisfied with the Mussels, which I stated above, the Lamb Shank, and Roasted Chicken, both of which are tender, moist and incredibly flavorful, but the absolute best choice is the “Grown Up” Grilled Cheese, which comes with a side of Tomato Basil Soup. Yes, that little kid in you comes out when you eat this, just don’t go crying to Mommy when your plate is empty and you want more. It’s that good!

I still have a few other dishes I would like to try on my next visit like the Baby Back Ribs and the Short Rib Burger, but I already know that I will love them!
